If evangelicals believe everything is in God’s will, then why do they vote?

Yesterday, I heard at least three talk shows talking about the topic I raised in my last post. That is the fact that Proposition 8 in California wouldn’t have passed if it hadn’t been for the African American community that overwhelming voted for the ban on marriage for gays and lesbians.
I think the African American community in California have to realize that they own this issue. They bought and paid for it.
Jon Stewart even went as far as to say the oppressed have become the oppressor.
That may seem harsh, but isn’t it a little true. Not to say that black oppression has ended. It certainly hasn’t.
But, I only hope that African Americans in California realize that this is their problem. They can choose to embrace it, or confront it as it is, a prejudice cancer that must be removed.

In an MSNBC article today about the passage of Proposition 8, there was some interesting statistical information.
“Exit polls for The Associated Press found that Proposition 8 received critical support from black voters who flocked to the polls to support Barack Obama for president. Blacks voted strongly in favor of the ban, while whites narrowly opposed it and Latinos and Asians were split.”
What does this say?
